The Mercy of Allah

«Bismillah Ar Rahmaan Ar Raheem»

A man was with Yahya bin Muadh (d.258AH) and recited the verse: “And speak to him (Firawn) with gentle speech…” [surah Taha, 44]

Yahya began to weep.

He the said,

“My Lord, if this is Your mercy and gentleness with the one who says, ‘I am your God’, then how will it be with the one who says that You are God?

If this is your mercy and gentleness with the one who says: ‘I am your Exalted lord’ [Surah al-Naziat:24] then how will it be with the one who says, ‘Glory to my Lord, the Most High’?”

[Tafsir al-Baghawi, 1/27]
